A friend of mine is a big fan of paisley, and a very talented inventor. The idea popped into my head to make him a small drawing of a paisley full of gears.
After I made the drawing in ink, it was suggested to me by some friends that I turn the design into a fabric print. I wanted a nice clean image to work with, so I uploaded the photo, opened it in Adobe Photoshop, and re-drew my design with my Wacom tablet. Then I duplicated the image a few times in alternating directions to create a fabric print that I would be able to upload to the textile printing site Spoonflower
I ordered a quilting square to see how it would come out. After about a week, my sample came in the mail. It turned out great! A friend of mine is now looking into using the fabric [with some additional pulley, chain, etc. paisleys added in] for the vest he will wear in his wedding. I am currently designing the altered pattern.
